An Intelligent Framework for Ab Training | 26 / 02 / 2010 | 0

I’m not sure if Kate Dailey knows the difference between sit-ups and crunches, as she seems to use the terminology interchangeably. Other than that, I thought this was a great article, so I’m passing it along. I’m not saying I agree with this, as I have not researched it myself; however, the claims made by […]

My Fitness Rushmore | 16 / 02 / 2010 | 0

No one is born knowing everything. John Locke would argue, in fact, that everyone is born knowing absolutely nothing. Like anyone, most of what I know has been passed down to me by a great teacher. I’d like to use this post to recognize the 4 most influential people on my fitness knowledge.
1. Kurt Hester […]

The Push-Pull Approach | 8 / 02 / 2010 | 0

Many days, I go into my gym with no idea what to do.
“Bench press sounds no fun today,” I’ll think. ”Pull-ups feel boring right now,” I’ll say aloud. And I just plain never want to do cleans anymore.
What happens to me and other gym fanatics on days like these is the worst possible outcome: nothing. If […]

How to Keep Your New Year’s Resolution | 11 / 01 / 2010 | 1

It’s 2010.
The new year brings out all the New Year’s resolutions. People who regularly workout hate this time of year. The gyms are overcrowded, every machine is in use, and every dumbbell rests in someone else’s hands. For those of you in this category: suck it up! Most of these resolution-ites will be out of […]

FAT LOSS: A Common Misconception | 10 / 08 / 2009 | 0

WebMd Video
So I’m browsing through webmd this past Friday afternoon to try to diagnose the knee pain I’ve been bothered by for months. My eyes turn to a video on the wedmd site discrediting lifting weights as a way to burn fat. While Anne Wilkinson, ACE certified personal trainer,  does mention that weight lifting is a worthwhile […]

Finding a Routine… | 6 / 08 / 2009 | 0

Routines are a good thing.
People are creatures of habit, and when they find something they like, chances are they’ll stick to it. The same can certainly be said for workout routines. Many people will only workout during the week. Several people only workout on the weekends. There are some who enjoy the 3 day, Monday/Wednesday/Friday […]

The Importance of Hamstring to Quad Strength Ratio | 22 / 06 / 2009 | 0

Strength coaches and athletes alike recognize the need for training the lower half of the body. And unless you are strong enough to walk on your hands all day, the general public needs to acknowledge the importance of having strong legs. One thing we often forget, however, is the importance of balancing the hamstring to […]
